Boy Scout Troop 377
posted December 29, 2009
This year our club was contacted by Scout Troop 377 of Hewitt, about helping with a Biking Merit Badge. This Merit Badge requires the Scouts to complete 2-10 mile, 2-15 mile, 2-25 mile and one 50 mile ride in less than 8 hours. I have had a great time working with the Scouts and their Troop Leaders. September 26th five Scouts, along with five parents, completed the 50 mile route on the Waco Wild West. It was the first 50 mile ride for nine of the ten riders. Great Job!
One week before the WWW the Troop went to Mineral Wells State Park to ride. They have a “Rails To Trails” that is very nice.

We had a great group of riders enjoy the 25 mile ride on the trail.

The park has many beautiful views. There is also an area to climb cliffs.

The next weekend all ten riders completed the 50 mile ride. I did not manage to get a photo of everyone at the start. The camera decided to not work. I did manage to catch several of the riders.

The Scouts that did not ride the WWW worked at rest stop 3 on the 50-62 mile route.

The year is coming to an end and with it the end of the Biking Merit Badge project for Troop 377 of Hewitt. I had a great time working with the boys and their parents. This is a photo of the Scouts (and parents) that completed the WWW100 fifty mile ride. There were 5 Boy Scouts, along with 5 parents that day. All ten riders completed the 50 mile ride. It was the first 50 mile ride for all 5 of the Scouts, and for 4 of 5 parents. Congratulations to everyone involved and to the Scouts that obtained their Merit Badge for Biking. Thanks to everyone in Troop 377 for allowing me to help with the Biking Badge.
